CastMe.ie is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including actors, models, extras, parents, production teams, and visitors with disabilities. We aim to make our platform inclusive and easy to use in line with the EU Web Accessibility Directive (Directive (EU) 2016/2102) and WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
Conformance Status
Our goal is WCAG 2.1 Level AA and, where we can, the newer WCAG 2.2 requirements. We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit, so we do not claim full conformance. In October 2026 we checked the site ourselves, found problems and started fixing them. This page says what works today and what does not yet.
Known Limitations
These are the things we know are not yet good enough:
- Captions. Our own films do not all have captions yet. Videos that members upload only have captions if the member adds them with our captions tool, and films listed in Watch are supplied by their makers and may have none.
- Image descriptions. There is not yet a field for members to describe the pictures they upload, so some member images will have no text description for a screen reader.
- Legal documents. Our privacy policy and terms are written in legal language and are hard to read. We plan to add plain-language summaries.
- Interactive tools. The Showcase editor, the games and CastMe Lab have not yet been fully tested with screen readers or with a keyboard alone, so some parts may be difficult to use.
- Display settings. “Your view” (below) is new and has only had our own testing so far. Bigger text keeps each page’s layout, so on a few pages a long word or a narrow column can look cramped at the largest size. Your browser’s own zoom (Ctrl and +) re-flows pages fully and also works.
- PDFs, downloads and other people's content. Older PDFs, downloadable files and embedded third-party tools may not be accessible.
- Testing. We have not yet tested with a wide range of disabled people. If you try CastMe and something gets in your way, please tell us.
We are working through these, starting with the ones that stop people most.
Accessibility Tools & Features
What CastMe.ie does today:
- A “Skip to main content” link on every page. It appears when you press Tab.
- Headings and page landmarks, so screen-reader users can move around a page.
- A clearly visible outline on the item you are on when using a keyboard.
- Pages that fit small screens and stay readable when you zoom or make text bigger. We checked layouts down to 320 pixels wide.
- Labelled sign-in and sign-up fields, with a button to show or hide your password.
- In your signed-in dashboard, screen readers are told when something is saved or goes wrong, and when you move to a different section.
- Your view, on every page. Press the “Your view” button in the corner, or Tab to the link at the top of the page. You can make text bigger, switch to easy-read letters, add more space between letters, words and lines, choose a dark or high-contrast page or a soft reading tint, calm the page (no movement, videos do not start by themselves), underline every link, make buttons bigger, turn on a reading guide, and have the page read aloud. Your choices are saved on your own device only, and “Back to the original view” undoes them all.
- Reduced animation if your device is set to prefer it.
- Read-aloud on every page (using a voice on your own device, so what you read is not sent anywhere), and read-aloud and dictation in Studio.
- A captions tool for the videos on your Showcase.
