This Privacy Policy explains how CastMe.ie ("CastMe", "we", "us", "our") processes personal data when you use our services.

Our privacy promise: CastMe is Irish-built, built for Ireland's creative and performance community, and designed to protect performers rather than exploit them. We do not sell member data. We do not use member photos, videos, voice recordings, Showcase materials, Studio practice media or performance data to train foundation AI models.

We process personal data in line with Irish and EU law, including:

2. Personal Data We Collect

Depending on your account type and how you use the site, we may collect:

• Identity and contact data (name, email address, phone number, county/location)
• Profile data (CV details, acting/modelling experience, availability, photos, showreels)
• Account and authentication data
• Booking and communications data
• Payment and billing metadata (processed securely through payment providers; we do not store full card details)
• Campaign and referral attribution data (for example, the page or campaign through which you registered)
• Technical data (device, IP address, browser type, usage logs)

3. How We Use Your Data

We use personal data to:

• Create and manage user accounts
• Match talent with roles and facilitate bookings
• Communicate about applications, bookings and service updates
• Maintain service security and prevent abuse
• Operate billing and accounting processes
• Measure registration campaigns and understand which signup routes are useful
• Meet legal and regulatory obligations

4. Legal Bases for Processing

We rely on one or more of the following GDPR legal bases:

• Contract (Article 6(1)(b)) - to provide our services
• Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) - for tax, accounting or compliance requirements
• Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) - platform operations, service improvement and fraud prevention
• Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) - where required, including certain cookies and marketing communications

5. Sharing of Personal Data

We may share data with:

• Production companies and casting clients where needed for casting/booking
• Service providers (hosting, analytics, email, payment processors) under contractual safeguards
• Professional advisers and regulators where legally required

We do not sell personal data. We do not sell member profiles, uploaded media, Showcase content, Studio materials or account activity to advertisers, data brokers or AI training companies.

6. AI Tools and Performer Rights

CastMe may provide AI-assisted tools for private practice, feedback, profile support and platform guidance.

We know AI can feel unclear or worrying, especially for performers whose image, voice, likeness and creative work matter. CastMe's position is simple: AI tools on CastMe are intended to help members prepare, improve and present themselves. They are not intended to replace performers or take ownership of their work.

We do not use member photos, videos, performances, voice recordings, acting techniques, Showcase content or Studio materials to train foundation AI models or create replacement AI performers. Performer images, media, likeness and creative work remain owned by the performer.

Where AI tools require a request to a third-party AI service provider, we send only the information needed to provide that feature and use available provider settings or contractual safeguards to limit retention and prevent training use where available. We keep reviewing these settings as the tools develop.

We are an Irish-built platform and we take the privacy of Irish performers seriously. We aim to be transparent about how AI features work and will provide reasonable additional detail where a member, parent/guardian, regulator or industry partner requires it.

7. International Transfers

Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA/UK, we apply appropriate safeguards (for example, Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.

8. Data Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above, including legal, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements.

When a member deletes media from CastMe, we remove it from the active platform and stop displaying it. Some limited records may remain where required for legal, security, audit, backup or dispute-resolution purposes, but deleted media is not kept for reuse, resale or AI training.

Members can delete their account from the dashboard. Account deletion removes the member account, profile, sessions, private Studio data, Showcase records and active uploaded media associated with that account. We may retain limited records only where required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, audit, backup or dispute-resolution purposes.

We use cookies and similar technologies to run and improve the site. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Cookie use is governed by GDPR and Ireland's ePrivacy rules under S.I. No. 336/2011. Non-essential cookies are only used where valid consent is obtained.

• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

Young members aged 16 and 17: your work and your audience

You can create a CastMe account, upload your own work and use the available private creative tools without a school account or guardian approval. Your Showcase starts private. Public publication is optional and requires a separate, explicit choice; saving a draft or sharing with young members does not give that permission.

For an optional public Showcase, we rely on your consent to display the public name, profile text and individual photos, videos or pieces you review and select. We record the date and version of that choice and the selected media. You can use a professional or stage name and leave location hidden, or choose a broad region.

A public Showcase can be viewed by anyone with its link, including adults and people who are not CastMe members. Directory listing, being featured on the homepage and search-engine indexing each have separate choices which start off. A link without directory or search listing is still public and can be forwarded.

Your structured account date of birth, email address, phone number, guardian details, precise location, CV and external contact links are excluded from this public view. You must also review the actual text, pictures and recordings you choose: automated text filtering cannot reliably remove a school name, a uniform, an address visible in a video or information inside an image. Only share work you have permission to publish.

Publishing does not enable adult-to-young-member messaging or change the separate requirements for applying for work. School membership is optional. Sharing with other eligible young-member accounts is a separate audience from the public page; age bands are based on account information and must not be taken as a guarantee of another member’s identity.

You can withdraw public publication in Showcase settings. We then stop serving the public page and its media to visitors who have no separate permission. Work you have also shared with young members has its own sharing controls. Withdrawal does not delete your private draft, and it cannot recall copies someone already saved or immediately remove a search engine’s older result. Records of your choices are retained as needed to operate your settings and evidence consent, subject to the retention and rights sections above. Your protected publication settings do not automatically become more open when you turn 18.

Use Report on a Showcase or contact [email protected] or [email protected] with a concern. Reports go to staff for review. This is not an emergency or continuously monitored service, and private conversations are not automatically scanned by this publication feature.

13. CastMe Classrooms for 13 to 15 year olds

CastMe Classrooms (classrooms.castme.ie) has a part for 13 to 15 year olds. It has no AI features: nothing a young person makes there is sent to an AI service. Nothing they make is public and there is no advertising.

Trying it without an account

A young person can try it without signing up. Their date of birth is checked on their own device and is never sent to us. What they make is saved only in their own browser, and we do not receive it.

Through a school

A teacher can add students to a secondary class with a nickname and a short code, or a student can ask to join with the class code and the teacher decides. For these students we hold their nickname, the class they belong to, the work they save or share, feedback, reactions and reports. We do not ask for their real name, email address, date of birth or a photo of them. The school decides who is in its classes; we provide Classrooms to the school.

With a parent’s consent

If their school does not use Classrooms, a young person can ask a parent or guardian. We send one email to the address they give us. If the parent confirms that they are the child’s parent or guardian, that they are 18 or over, and that they agree, we create a private space for the child. We rely on parental consent to provide this private space to children under 16 in Ireland.

For a private space we keep the child’s nickname, the parent’s email address, the date and version of the consent, the work the child saves, and any pictures they add. Pictures are cleaned of location and camera details on the child’s device before they reach us. Nobody else can see a private space. The parent can see everything in it, sign the child out of every device, and delete the space at any time from the parent page at classrooms.castme.ie/parent.

How long we keep it

• A request to join a class: deleted 14 days after it is made if the teacher does not answer, or a week after they answer.
• A request to a parent: deleted after 7 days if the parent does not say yes.
• A private space: until the parent deletes it, or after 12 months in which nothing is saved in it.
• Class work: while the class exists. Teachers can remove students, and a school can ask us to delete a class.

Reports

Students can report something to their teacher. If they mark it as unsafe, we are told the class and school, but not who reported it or who it is about, so we can check in with the teacher. Our child safeguarding statement explains what we do next.

Rights

A parent or guardian can use their child’s data protection rights by emailing [email protected], or directly on the parent page. Schools can contact us about their class data at the same address.
