'The Empty Face' is a gothic horror / drama graduate short film set in Britain in the 1970s, with support from the local council and local businesses and a multi-award-winning director attached. The film explores society's perceptions of physical appearance and asks whether the real monsters are those who look different or those who judge and mistreat them. After an accident leaves young Edith's face disfigured, her overprotective father, Chris, confines her to their home, fearing how society will treat her. As Edith grows increasingly isolated, she becomes determined to reconnect with the outside world and discover who she is beyond her appearance. Inspired by works including 'The Elephant Man', 'Carrie', 'Eyes Without a Face' and 'Frankenstein', the story follows Edith's increasingly dangerous journey into society and the consequences for both her and her father.
