'The Stranger' is a historical fantasy short film written and directed by Dr Jessica Secmezsoy Urquhart, inspired by the Poetic Edda and drawing on the filmmaker's love of and expertise in history and mythology. The story follows Odin, disguised as a wandering stranger, as he journeys to seek out a powerful völva, a Norse psychic, in the hope of learning the fate of the gods before Ragnarök. The dialogue is inspired by the language and rhythm of both the Eddas and Shakespeare, so actors should be comfortable delivering heightened, poetic text. The filmmaker is currently assessing whether suitable local actors are available before proceeding with the production. Payment cannot currently be guaranteed and may become possible.
